Group Classes for Adults 

​

General Terms and Conditions for « The-English-Center »

Valid from 6.2020

Rules and regulations

​

Entry: Entry to our current courses is possible at any time. All classes run on a quarterly basis. New students joining a course in the middle of a quarter, only have to pay the remaining lessons of that quarter.

​

Registration: Once the registration form has been submitted, the contract is binding.

​

Teachers: Our teachers are experienced, highly-trained professionals in the field of English language teaching. All teachers are native (or native level) English speakers. Read more about our qualified teachers on our website.

​

Payment: All bills must be paid before the quarter begins, or before joining a new course. If a bill is more than two weeks late, there will be a CHF 5.00 reminder fee. This reminder fee then increases by CHF 5.00 every two weeks. All invoices and reminders are sent via email, not by post.

​

Beginning/End of class: Students should arrive no sooner than 5 minutes before the start of the lesson and all classes must finish on time. If a student wishes to extend their class time, they are welcome to discuss this with the school director in advance.

​

Holidays: Group classes run throughout the year. Personal absences and vacations will not be deducted from the invoice for group classes. During common holiday periods (such as July or December), the teacher and students will discuss if/when the group will meet. If you would like more flexibility with scheduling, then you are welcome to sign up for private or semi-private classes.

​

Information: Important last-minute information about the class (e.g. via substitutes or possibly a cancellation) is communicated via WhatsApp or SMS.

​

Class cancellation: In the rare event that a class is cancelled by the teacher due to illness or absence and there is not a substitute available, the lesson will be made up in the current or following quarter.

​

Media: The-English-Center in Langenthal operates its own homepage and is active in social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.). To keep The-English-Center as up-to-date as possible, we regularly publish photos and short videos on social media. In this way, we can give concrete insight into our modern teaching and promote it. For this reason, we would like to use photos of the course group on the Internet, in the newspaper, and on leaflets. If you prefer us to blur your face in published photos and/or videos, please inform the school director in writing.

 

Illness/ accident: If you have been sick with a fever or vomiting within the past 24 hours, please do not come to The English Center.

 

Withdrawal from course/end of contract: If a student wishes to withdraw from the course for any reason, he/she must submit a written letter of withdrawal at least 10 days before the end of the current quarter. Otherwise, the place will remain reserved for the next quarter and the full course fee for the following quarter must be paid. If a participant leaves during a quarter, the course fee will not be refunded.

​

Termination of contract: The English Center reserves the right to terminate a current participant’s contract at any time if the teacher and/or other course participants are at risk or violated in any way.

​

Insurance and liability: Liability, health, and accident insurance is the responsibility of the course participant. We cannot accept liability for lost or damaged private property.

​

Program and price changes: The English Center reserves the right to make program and price changes, and changes to the general terms and conditions. All participants will be informed ahead of time about any changes.

If classes are interrupted for more than three consecutive weeks, the student risks losing this particular time slot. If the student cancels the course within 24 hours, the course will not be made up. If you would like more flexibility with scheduling, then you are welcome to sign up for private classes.

Class cancellation: 

-In the rare event that a class is cancelled by the teacher due to illness or absence and there is not a substitute available, the lesson will be made up in the current or following quarter.  

 

- If the student cancels a class with advanced notice, the class can be made up in the same quarter. This can happen a maximum of two times per quarter. If the student cancels the class within 24 hours, the class will not be made up.

 

Media:  The English Center in Langenthal operates its own homepage and is active on social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.). In order for The English Center to be as up-to-date as possible, we like to regularly post photos and short videos on social media. Doing this allows us to advertise what our classes are like at The English Center. For this reason, we would like to use photos of the class on the internet, in the newspaper and on flyers. If you would prefer we blur your face in published photos and/or videos, please inform the school director in writing.

Course resignation:  If a student wishes to withdraw for any reason, they must submit a resignation letter in writing 10 days before the end of the current quarter. Without this, the place remains reserved in the next quarter and therefore the full course fee for the following quarter must be paid. If a participant leaves during a quarter, the course fee will not be refunded.

 

Termination of contract: The English Center reserves the right to terminate a current participant’s contract at any time if the teacher and/or other course participants are at risk or feel violated in any way.

Rules and regulations

Entry: Entry to our current courses is possible at any time. All classes run on a quarterly basis. New students joining a course in the middle of a quarter, only have to pay the remaining lessons of that quarter.

Trial lesson: Children are welcome to a free and non-binding trial lesson before registering for a course.

​

Registration: Once the registration form has been submitted, the contract is binding.

​

Teachers: Our teachers are experienced, highly-trained professionals in the field of English language teaching. All teachers are native (or native level) English speakers.  Our playgroup leaders have completed playgroup training, a children’s first aid course, and are native (or native level) English speakers. ​

Payment: All bills must be paid before the quarter begins, or before joining a new course. If a bill is more than two weeks late, there will be a CHF 5.00 reminder fee. This reminder fee then increases by CHF 5.00 every two weeks. All invoices and reminders are sent via email, not by post.

Drop off/Pick up: The children should arrive no sooner than 10 minutes before the start of the playgroup/lesson and must be picked up no later than 10 minutes after the end of the lesson.

​

Holidays/schedule: Our schedule follows the Langenthal holiday schedule. Personal absences and vacations will not be deducted from the invoice for group classes.

 

Information: Important last-minute information about the playgroup/class (e.g. via substitutes or possibly a cancellation) is communicated via WhatsApp or SMS.

 

Class cancellation: In the rare event that a class is cancelled by the teacher due to illness or absence and there is not a substitute available, the lesson will be made up the last week of the school year (see school year schedule). If this is not possible, the corresponding amount will be credited to the next quarter’s bill.

 

Media:  The English Center in Langenthal operates its own homepage and is active on social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.). In order for The English Center to be as up-to-date as possible, we like to regularly post photos and short videos on social media. Doing this allows the relatives of the children to see their English progress, and we can also show other children what we do at The English Center. For this reason, we would like to use photos of the children on the internet, in the newspaper and on flyers. If you would prefer we blur your child’s face in published photos and/or videos, please inform the school director in writing.

Illness/ accident: If your child has been sick with a fever or vomiting within the past 24 hours, please do not bring them to The English Center. If the teacher feels the child is sick, they reserve the right to call the parent to come and pick up the child. If your child is unable to attend due to illness or any other reason, lessons cannot be reimbursed or rescheduled.

 

Course resignation:

​

- Quarterly paying customers. To withdraw from the course for any reason, a resignation must be submitted in writing 10 days before the end of the current quarter. Without this, the place remains reserved for the next quarter and therefore the full course fee for the following quarter must be paid. If a participant leaves anytime during a quarter, unused classes during that current quarter are non-refundable.

 

- Yearly paying customers. To withdraw from the course before the end of the school year for any reason, a resignation must be in writing. Unused classes during the current quarter are non-refundable, but participants may be entitled to a 50% refund of any remaining full quarters.

 

Termination of contract: The English Center reserves the right to terminate a current participant’s contract at any time if the teacher and/or other course participants are at risk or violated in any way.
